Systematic Troubleshooting

For Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis

Systematic Troubleshooting

General Description

Today, best-in-class companies all over the world employ engineers and managers who are able to solve problems quickly after the initial diagnosis of the problem. This is really a crucial and vital skill today, and  one of the most important resources for managers and engineers to help organizations move forward by minimizing downtime through quick and efficient problem solving.

This course provides a holistic and broad scope in developing the skill set of the engineers and managers to quickly size up problems and employ the right approach and strategies for their resolution without being tied down by time consuming, unfocused and irrelevant details of many problem issues.

Detailed Description

The training is designed to help engineers, supervisors and managers solve problems in the context of the manufacturing environment where quality, yield and operational issues of process, equipment and people need to be dealt with in a quick, systematic and precise manner. Each section of the relevant topics would cover:

– Theory
– Techniques & Application
– Groupwork
– Participants Discussion of the Lessons Learned

The Course Objectives
a) To provide the participants with a good background on how to recognize the many types of problems and what approaches are best used to deal with them.

b) To equip the participants with the right way to diagnose the problem to determine the right type of data to be collected.

c) To teach the participants the techniques of analyzing the data collected to quickly identify a range of possible causes.

d) To teach the participants how to intelligently use Questioning Technique with Separation Rules to isolate the Root Cause

e) To teach the participants how to search for the Root Cause at many levels of the Root Cause Structure of Problem Solving.

f) To help the participants master the many charting applications that are used for mapping different problem issues for quick troubleshooting.

g) To teach the participants how to compute the confidence level of the Causal Factor identified.

h) To teach the participants how to conduct powerful Tukey’s Test to verify and prove the cause.
