MOST® Work Measurement System

In recent years, HB Maynard (one of the founders of the MTM-1 System) developed a new system of time standard development to meet the requirements of:

In the above systems, now owned by Accenture, there are obvious advantages. The MOST® system does away with mnemonic codes to represent motion categories and instead uses an ingenious method based on Operation Activity Parameters with indexing class to represent degree of difficulty in executing the motions as well as standard time slotted ranges for Part Handling, Tool Handling, Machine Handling, Equipment Use Sequence, Truck Sequence and Powered Crane Sequence.

 

Operational Activity Parameter Index

As MOST® uses Operational Activity Parameter Indexing approach, the developing of Methods and Waste Standards becomes more standardized to conform to consistency in application and yet sensitive to changes in:

Maxi-MOST® Training (4 Days)

Intermediate to Long Cycle Work Measurement

Maxi-MOST® is the ideal work measurement system for long cycle time activity which is only performed for a few cycles with considerable variations in the method and distances which are part and parcel of the work activities. It is another breakthrough in the work measurement world that is capable of work measurement based on Output Identification Unit (OIU), be it number of parts, tool actions, steps taken, body displacements, or distance measured etc., to transform them into measurable unit of time in Time Measurement Unit (TMU). The cycle time applicable to most application areas is anywhere from a few minutes to several hours in duration.

With Maxi-MOST® system, there is no need to worry about the characteristics of the motions made with respect to the engaging part. This therefore reduces the unnecessary detailed analysis of motions made that are so prevalent in other work measurement systems. This reduces applicator errors by eliminating the need to make judgment on variation in methods and distances.

Mini-MOST® Training (4 Days)

Repetitive Short Cycle Work Measurement

Mini-MOST® is designed for short cycle repetitive operations in order to achieve the desired accuracy of ±5% at 95% confidence level for cycle time duration of about 5 to 120 seconds. It is the system of choice in developing fast operation cycle time.

Mini-MOST® is a power of 1 system and is as close as MTM-1 in terms of TMU parameter index. The Mini-MOST® system has a small slotted time range of 1, 3, 6, 10, 24, 32, 42, 54, 67, 81, 113 etc. Assembly motion classes are defined clearly and can be easily slotted into the above time range with a high degree of precision. Unlike MTM-based or other conventional systems, there is no need to use mnemonic codes, which reduces applicator errors. Mini-MOST® uses only 3 operational sequences:

1. General Move Sequence
2. Controlled Move Sequence
3. Tool Use / Machine Use / Process Controlled Sequence

This permits the easy development of work task time without having to worry too much on the human motions made at work. The motion sequence prompts the parameter index to be applied without fail. As there is no mnemonic code pegged to every motion made, the speed of Mini-MOST® system is much higher than other conventional approaches.

Generally, Mini-MOST® should always be used in fast-paced work environments where routine work and repetition allows the operator to work at high speed. All repetitive work of around 20 to 60 seconds is suitable for Mini-MOST® application.
